Box-office report: Mission Mangal is the third highest opener of 2019

Mission Mangal tells the story of one of India’s biggest achievements in the space race ever and releasing it on the country’s 73rd Independence Day not only gives the film an emotional leverage but also paces up its box-office collections. With approximately 55% occupancy in its first show itself, Mission Mangal became the third biggest opener of 2019, only behind Bharat and Avengers: Endgame. The occupancy rate has soared upto 93% in the evening and night shows.

Owing to the film’s story, cast and the popularity of the actor, the film is expected to have an opening of approximately Rs. 30 crores on Thursday itself. It will also see a rise during the long weekend and make upto Rs. 60-80 crores by Sunday.

With Balta House competing with Mission Mangal at the ticket counters, the fact that the films released a day earlier is going to help with good number for both. This is not the first time John Abraham and Akshay Kumar have locked horns at the box-office. The two clashed with Gold and Satyamev Jayate last year and both films made it big at the box-office. Here’s hoping for similar results this year as well.
